Midwest Malibu .40

After learning the basics of RC flight in a PT-40 ARF in 1995, I got my first KIT-built plane from Tower Hobbies that same year: a Malibu .40 trainer. This plane was wonderful. I enjoyed it for several years, even adding a cusotm made drop box. My claim to fame (still to this day) amongst my friends and family members was that I would release al sorts of items, especially cargo that would land under parachutes! I added lightsticks to it and flew it on a couple of fun flights at night. I had a lot of fun with this plane! I went on to more "ambitious" RC projects, and 20 years later I would like to celebrate by building a Midwest Malibu plane.

My old plans are now in some landfill. I have not been able to find them. I tried searching websites for purchasing plans and no luck. Last postings I found related to this plane is one on 2005 in RCGroups. (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=350492)and another in 2009 in RC Canada of someone selling it, I contacted him but no reply yethttp://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=94372I contacted MIDWEST with my intent of buying at least just the plans, and they replied: "Sorry, we no longer have any parts or plans available for any planes."

So, ANY help in finding a set of plans: copied, purchased from someone who owns a kit, or from a plans service, or from the original designer, etc. would be appreciated!
If anyone has an old KIT stored away in an old closet or shop, I will buy it "AS IS" as long as the KIT includes the plans.
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

It's a rare bird alright. I remember building one Midwest kit and that was the sweet stik. There problem back then was they seemed to have designs that looked liked every one else's airplanes so it was the luck of the draw if your hobby shop carried their kit over someone else's.

My best guess as a place to try would be Uncle Willie's plans. I have gotten a little crosswise with him because I challenged him for selling plans copywritten by other companies. He has been banned by RCU and Ebay as well as other sites and some ISPs because of copywrite violations but he does have some plans for long gone airplanes. I copywrite is good for about 85 years so you can see why the legalities are a mess when a design o company has been gone for decades.

I too am looking for a midwest malibu kit. That was my first plane that I built when I was 14 years old and I love it! I have it hanging from my ceiling, but it's not fly-able....more of a museum relic currently. Anyway, If you know where I can find a kit, that would really make my day/month/year!

Your first airplane is like your first love you never forget it! My first was a Ryan SC Comet kit back in the stone age. As you can see from my avatar I am still in love with that airplane. I also bought the first kit on Ebay for about 15 times what the first one cost me!
