Rye, Extend the doubler forward the distance you need and enlarge the motor mount surface, the vertical part on the doubler, to fit the DLE. Use 1/8 aircraft plywood for the doubler and at least 1/4 aircraft plywood for the firewall. Epozy the motor mount to the double and use hard wood triangular stock where it meets the doubler. You don't need to make a slot. Leave the wing saddle where it is. Balance the plane to the same CG shown on the plans. Dan.
