HGR9 Arrow on floats
Am building Arrow 40 with Maxford USA floats. Would the Evolution .52 NX be overpowered for said application? Perhaps the Evolution .45 Trainer System would be more appropriate. Have the .52 in hand but would need to purchase the .45. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

RE: HGR9 Arrow on floats
Tim Allen generally went by the philosophy that too much power is not enough. Arrh Arrh!
A .52 is likely based on the same crankcase as the .40, and may actually be lighter. In any case, the weight of the powerplant is the issue you want to examine. Actual power being delivered is regulated by the left stick.
You should be able to slide the engine fore or aft on the mount to help with balance, and the location of the battery pack (AND THE LOCATION OF THE SWITCH) have an effect. If the motor is significantly heavier, I have been known to move the firewall back so that the plane would balance. Mr. Bandsaw is of great assistance here.
You HAVE the 52. It's not outrageously outsized. If it were me, I would use it.
If the tables were reversed and you had the .40, I would not suggest you upgrade to the .52.
I have a similar problem.
I have a Saito 100 Gold Head. I am wondering whether I can shoehorn it into a Sig Kadet Senior, or whether I should enlarge the plans by 25%.
