    Aero Tubing Supplier?

Iā€™m looking for some 6061 T6 aluminum aero tubing (streamline tube) .750 OD x .035 W-in 36ā€ lengths. This is the same aero tubing which comes in the Sea Commander Float hardware package. Apparently, Sea Commander is not accepting any orders at this time. Do you have or know where I may purchase two 36" lenghts of this material?
Thank you for your time. Bruce Wilson

    RE: Aero Tubing Supplier?

I see the picture seams to show an oval shape tube,, but the description says round.
What makes you think that's the oval shaped??

The picture of the tube is it's end at a angle, thus the ELLIPTICAL shape!

I check with OnLine Metals earlier. They do not carry aero tube or streamline tube.

Look at the description of the product shown in the link I sent you, ROUND SEAMLESS TUBING, I use 3/16"D x .042W as hing pins all the time.

I think that's a picture of round tubing, cut off square and just shot at a funny angle that makes it look ELLIPTICAL, study the picture more closely,

Also the search catogory is round tube

    RE: Aero Tubing Supplier?

I don't know what you need the tubing for, but I was looking for some this past winter for float struts on last winters project. After ordering the 3/4" KS stuff found out it was indeed very thin walled. My solution was to mill some hard maple down to a snug fit that could be slid inside the tubing. After epoxying in the struts ended up strongh enough to hold up a 13lb. plane.

    RE: Aero Tubing Supplier?

I finally got the camera dug out and took a picture. The floats are Balsa USA. The bottom mounting fittings come with the floats. I needed four more of them to get everything attached. After looking around I figured out that Dubro made them. A little pricey though at 5 or 6 dollars a pair. For the fuse mounts the maple inserts were slotted for a piece of 1/8" flat aluminum, before they were slid into the tubing. Like most things I build, the farther away you are the better they look.

    RE: Aero Tubing Supplier?

I don,t have pulleys for my rudders right now Sherman. The cables run through little pieces of 1/8" brass tube that are bent 90 degrees and glued into little balsa blocks. I have some round aluminum rod that I planned on making pulleys out of but I guess that I got tired of working on this plane last winter, so took the fast way out. Hopefully the plane is still in one piece this winter, then maybe I can do a little more work on it. Like pulleys, N numbers, and decals.

You hid the tubes well, I am looking for small pulleys for a 40% super cub, if you come across any let me know.
