Default canoe

I'm trying to find a canoe to mount on the skids of my piper cub... something around 16 inches long would be scale. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Matt

I would look at Bass Pro shops and the Coleman stores. They used to have GI Joe size guys with different outdoor equipment. Possibly there's a canoe accessory.

You've got to go with the kit. Those Chinese ARF canoes are poor quality and the covering is terrible.

The nice thing about the kit is that it makes a nice display piece on the mantel also . ENJOY !!! RED

I went the simple route that plays the part well in the air. I cut out a simple foam canoe shape, rounded the edges, and covered it with red fabric. It sure looks like a Cub on its way to a favorite fishing hole while flying. This one is on my Balsa USA 1/4 Cub.

very nice airportbum... and thanks for the idea... i may try that first. even though i'm about as handy as a screen door on a submarine, sometimes I can pull these projects off.

I went with airportbum's idea, it turned out pretty good. I opted for the old grumman look, just sanded and painted the styrofoam. I don't have it mounted yet but here's what I got so far.

Looking good - but the fuselage of a Cub is 22 feet. Canoes run 13 to 18 feet, with 16 being about the norm.

Yeah, It's not scale but inorder to stay out of the prop and in my opinion taking asthetics into account.... this was what I felt worked best. I could have added another inch or so and been allright, but if you read my prior post referencing the " screen door" it should help you understand the outcome.

thanks
Matt

You could always call it an Adirondack guide boat.

Your canoe looks great. It is fun to add details like that. I found a couple pics of mine in its element.

did you notice much difference in the way it flies? with a real boat haul i think the general rule is cut your load by double the external load.
