Default sea master engine pylon on sea monster?

I am thinking the sportsman aviation sea monster engine pylon is too weak laterally. it is a 1/2 inch plywood piece that the engine bolts to. the fingers that carry the side mount engine are only 5/8 wide with no cross bracing. if anyone has enperience with this design please help with sugestions. i could send photos. maybe add a alum. u-channel to top and bottom but cowling suppots would need to be different?
