I plan to skin a pair of foam floats with balsa and having problems locating adhesives that will work. Specifically I was looking for Sig Core Bond and Dave Brown's Southers Sorgum adhesive but can't find either any where.Sig no longer lists it on their website and neither does Dave Brown.
What gives here? Has the government in all their infinite wisdom banned these?
Any suggestions? Otherwise I'll use epoxy.

Since most people don't build any longer,, I guess those companies stopped making those type products,,

I use West System epoxy or regular carpenter's glue, why pay through the nose for a hobby store product when just plain glue will work anyway??

I have never actually skinned foam before but have glued foam to foam and balsa to foam and I use gorrilla glue or a polyurathane glue. It expands and fills small holes and will stick to both parts extremly well and it's completely water proof when dry. It only takes a very thin coat on both surfaces and then put together and let sit with weight or taped for 20 minutes and it should be set. I use round toothpicks to hold the balsa from sliding on the foam and when done, it sands flush with the balsa.

I use water base contact cement .. It works great .. You can get it at the hardware store.. Make sure it is water base because the other stuff will melt the foam...

Only problem I see with Gorilla glue in this application is the expansion,, as long as you can clamp all the sheeting down tightly back in the shucks it will be fine, I too have used it with foam. With non expansive glues just rubber bands or tape will work as it needs much less clamping pressure.

I've sheeted over 1000 foam core floats and I use 3M 78 spray adhesive which is formulated for foam. It is not easy to find, so in a pinch you could use 3M 77 or 3M 45, but do not let it puddle ( light spray only ) or it will eat the foam. With the 77 or 45, hold the can around 12 inches away and apply several light mists to the foam and a normal coat to the sheeting. Let them set for around a minute before attaching the sheeting.

I don't sheet floats any more, I just give them 2 coats of liquid sheeting. $20 1 hour work all done.

You might like this stuff, It is 3M 30-NF, RCU is not allowing the link to the data sheet for some reason so if you google 3M NF-30 data sheet you can learn some cool things about this stuff.
