Default Homemade floats?

ive heard of them. they are made out of foam. question is, how do u make it?
can a .40 glow work with it?
what happens if water soaks ur engine/plane (will it happen?)?

Sure, you can make a serviceable set of floats from styrofoam. If you don't have a thick enough piece, you can laminate several layers. USe a foam-friendly adhesive: Polyurethane or 30-min epoxy come to mind. 5-Min epoxy can get hot enought to melt foam.....that's why I recomend 30-min.

Any size engine works fine..All but one of my planes are .40-size. I don't find the need for oversizing the engines because of the floats. If you can take off from grass with wheels, you can take off from water with floats.

If you get water in the motor, pour it out.
Remove the glo-plug and spin it over with the starter. Then replace the plug and start the motor to run out the water, dry the bearings, etc. Just don't store the motor with water in it.
