Default For all deciding, IMO, Add the Ventral Fin!!!

Hey, I just maidened my GP Cub ARF with the GP float kit.

I did not add the ventral fin, and I really should have. It had absolutely NO Yaw Stability. It was fishtailing the whole flight, and it was difficult to keep control.

I managed to control it alright, and brought it in for a perfect landing, but it was diffucult and made me very nervous. I am adding the ventral fin right away, and wont fly without one ever again. BTW... it was a very calm day, and the water was smooth... However there was some wind above tree level.

The reason I posted this is because some people told me I didn't need it.

so I say... ADD THE VENTRAL FIN!!!!

It's amazing how a simple thing like that can make such a big difference!

But when you think about it, the fin (Original fin that is) is designed to catch air and keep the tail in the back. With the addition of a large area such as floats to the front, THEY catch a lot of air too! So sometimes a little extra help is needed at the rear.
