Here is my LT-40 on floats. It flies very nice and is so much more fun to fly off of the water. Sorry I don't have any pics of it flying, the lake is frozen right now.[] If this cold weather keeps up much longer, I might just fly from the ice.

While not as nice as some of the stuff posted here, my GP 81" Cub with Saito 90 twin is so reliable and fun. Sounds greats and flies very scale like.

That is a nice cub! I'd love to have a Saito twin in something but don't have a plane big enough...yet. More pics of my cub in one of my favorite spots.

Hangar9 Cub on Great Planes Fiberglass floats, Ys .63. I think I'd be better off with the built up floats. These seem wide at the tail and the plane doesn't sit back on the floats well for taxiing...etc. It rides on step wonderfully, so i don't want to move em.

Anyone know of large Sea Bee kits, or other large flying hulls for single engines available in Kit form or composite?

Here is a Grumman Goose 100 inch wing span with two Saito 170 R's for power and functional retracts. The kit is offered by Richard Coleman at www.mastermodelers.com and the main retracts are offered by Kelvin at www.keleo-creations.com. It also has two functioal scale exhaust systems. She is almost ready for her maiden flight, cant wait.

A local modeler, who has been in the hobby for decades and is a member of the AMA Hall of Fame in Muncie, IN has had considerable experience with the Saito 170 3 cylinder engine. He, and others, say it has a regular tendency to drop one of the bottom cylinders. He was very specific about which one, and always the same one, but I don't know if it's the left or right. I just thought I'd to give you a heads up on it, for what you have invested in the project a couple of on-board glow drivers seems like cheap insurance. Best of luck, and please post some in-flight pictures. A co-worker was employed by Antilles for 3 or 4 years. I'll show him your pictures.

I just found this picture of some impromptu formation flying with my old H9 cub and a Goldberg....both 4 strokes putting away.. This was at a fly in and funny thing was that the normal background noise, people talking, engines running up etc dissappears and was replaced by the sounds of cameras clicking and whirring.........

Kelvin,

Those are very scale looking retracts. Nice work! The model isn't half bad either

Last month I built the scale model of THURSTON TEAL Model TSC-1A amphibian built from my own plans. All balsa 70†model powered by MVVS 4.6 /1120 outrunner electric motor manufactured in Czech Republic. The model was flown with AXI 4120/18 as well. The main landing gear swings back for water flying. All balsa model weights 6.5 to 7.0 Lbs depending on the size of the LiPo batteries. The wings plug in.

Here is a couple pics of my SPAD. Not near as pretty as some of the planes here but I am new to floats so I did not want to use a nice plane. This one flies amazing with the floats and has been alot of fun.

Hello all!

Here are a few pictures of my Norvel 061 powered Herr Aquastar, taken at a club float fly in May this year. She flew great, and managed to ROW dispite the choppy conditions.

The cub next to it is a friend's plane, lipo motivated outrunner, and it also flew nicely, I gotta say.

This is one I call the Aqua Stunt. It is an old Florio Flyer Stuntwagon on tri or tail dragger floats. We tried this as an experiment and it works well. It pops right up on the "step" after I add power.

The power started off as a TT .46Pro, then a GMS .47 and finally a .46AX, which runs great.

The plane is still aerobatic and flat spins.

For this seaplane I took an old TwinStar, recovered the wings, added wider ailerons and a sub fin. The result is the SeaStar. Power is 2 GMS .32s.

It flies well, but it's hard to keep both engines running at the same time. Yep, one engine is out in the landing picture.
