Default Sea Monster- My first seaplane...

Just got one off of a flying buddy today for a smokin' deal. Has 1 flight, no crashes, and he threw in an OS 46LA to power it. It needs a little work. Tonight I went over it with the iron, tomorrow I need to install radio and seal the seams with a clear coat. Can't wait to maiden her.
Anybody flown this engine.plane combo? Any prop recommendations?

Any input appreciated.

Sean

46LA... how about a 11x5 or an 11x4?...

...if you want more pitch speed, try out a 10x6 or a 10x7.

just maidened my sea monster. launched like a rocket off of grass. it has a saito .65. i left it a bit nose heavy and i am glad of that as it seems to float longer on landing. next time, water! it flys like a plane should fly, easy.

I have a seamonster as my first floater. Keep an eye on the covering on the bottom corners over the fiberglass hull. Mine came loose letting water soak the balsa. Great flying plane though. Will knife edge forever.

Hopefully I wont have to worry about the covering. I used some clearkote from monokote and sealed all edges at or below the water line. I had to cut a hatch in the nose and build a battery tray to get it to balance right, but all should be good for the first flight. I got it balanced without any lead needed. Today is the day for the maiden, we are doing it off of water.

Seal the hatch with scotch tape.
