I'm new to float flying & have the abouve combo. I have a strong OS 46 that will be on the Kadet. Where should the step be relative to the CG of the plane? Wing Incidence relative to the floats? Any other advise would be helpful.

There are smarter people than me on here, and some good links full of info, but to get you started:

Step should generally be at or a little ahead of the CG. I have heard of up to one inch or so.

Wing should be slightly positive in relation to top of float. In other words, float tips should be slightly tilted down with wing perfectly level. Just a degree or two.

I don't have the 2 definitive links handy, but someone will. Try searching the RCU Seaplane forum (this one). This comes up frequently.

EDIT:
Maybe I meant behind the CG? I'm sorry, the only example I have on hand is my Ultra-Stick, and it is set up right on the CG. I think that thing would pull the floats out of the water no matter what, so it is a bad example.

I am new to floatflying but hope this helps

1- Yes, the Step should be at or 1/2 inch behind the CG ( I like to put it 1/2 behind )
2- Wing incidence positive, 2 degrees should work.
3- Float separation should be 1/4 of wingspan so for your case 70/4 =17.5 or as close as posible. This is so the plane is stable on the water
4-Check the weight of the plane when using the 40 size float, they should work fine.
5-Dont forget to balance the plane with the floats on

Anaconda ---- I have a Kadet LT-40 on Great Plane floats and love every minute I am in the air with it . It is powered by a 46 Magnum and flies better than most float planes . It is relatively easy to grease most landings --- a big plus when you have spectators present ---lol . I agree with all that has been said so far but if you would like pictures and more info all you have to do is ask . Happy landings .
