Default Turning trainer into sea plane

I have a Hobbico Superstar MKII, 40 with a O.S. .40 LA engine on it. I would like to turn it into a sea plane. I am wondering what size floats would work the best on it and what size and type of engine I should put on it so it has enough power pull through the water and fly with the floats and not rip the firewall off.

The engine is enough, so it comes down to the floats. look for Chuck Cunningham's articles somewhere on these boards for how to size and build floats and/or look at my brother's simple way - no covering or anythng special and they work very well! - of doing it from pink foam from Home Depot and using the Cunningham princples.

standard 40 size floats, but I would search the articles to build your own. There isn't a good set on the market. The ones I use would be awesome, but friends cut them and I don't have access to more or I would help you out. They are easy to cut. Look for the articles or ask someone in the seaplane section to help you out.

ZeeDoo, Super Flying Models, Falcon/Hobby People, Plane Fun Floats... Those are all very good 40 size floats. I can't imagine what yours would be like if they are that much better. How about some details?

I enjoy the ARC/Modelfly floats, available from hobbypeople.net
