RE: Show us your Beaver!
Is anyone putting some down thrust on their engine?
I was test fitting the engine in the cowl, and little down-thrust would help to minimize the cutting of the cowl.
I have the ESP/KMP, and in the manual they show no offset/ down-trust. How much would be acceptable?
Thanks, V.

RE: Show us your Beaver!
Hello,
just wanted to show you my Beaver. It's still on the work bench. Hope to get it to fly this spring.
The motor gets small near the Headway cells. It's a full composite kit from HVP that spans 110".
You can get the kit at:

RE: Show us your Beaver!
OK I've been waiting to post this picture. I have just finished the scratch build of my 6' foot WS version from plans. I have a 15cc RCGF gas with a 14 x 7 Graupner 3 blade. It has a wrap around in cowl muffler with dual bottom pipes. I had to custom build the cowl to allow for about an inch of extra length. She weighs in at 10.4 pounds!

Very, very nice Roger.
Please give more information and photos!! Whose plans, whose floats or float plans, etc. Would like details on finishing, covering, etc. and close ups of the float rigging and engine install.
I have a 26 cc RCGF but have not started it yet.

I purchased the plan from Model Airplane News plans source several years ago. The blue covering is from Hobby King and comes in a roll twice as long as monokote and at half the price, so far, I have not been disappointed it goes on just as easy and is a durable film! The tan color film is a left over a friend gave me a long time ago and it is no longer made.

RE: Show us your Beaver!
nice machine sir. I notice your pic of the takeoff, your dragging the heals real hard and "pulling it off". with the flaps out like you have, try just enough back pressure to keep it from digging but not so much that your dragging the heals. i bet about 5' more water it will come off on its own and gently accelerate and climb smooth and scale like.
Happy flying

RE: Show us your Beaver!
Well guys... I finally finished my 100 inch Top Model CZ Beaver and after over a year of work, I have her 99% ready.
I installed CNC cut foam floats, which I covered in balsa, glassed, painted and added scale rivets. It took me two days just to apply the vinyl rivets! I installed two stainless steel water rudders left over from a set of H9 1/4 scale floats. All that needs to be done is to install the water rudder push/pull cables to the tiller arm under the rudder and install the tail cone and balance. The struts and spreader bars for the floats are all carbon fiber and stainless steel hardware. The attachment pieces made of aluminum were custom made by a friend and fellow club member. It was a LOT of work to get this model together and I have never spent so much time on an ARF. And, an *expensive* one at that! The model is $1200!

I added LED lights to the model as well. A landing light, the three position lights and a rotating beacon (it is a programmable flasher that ramps up and flashes according to how you like it). A few antennae on the fuse and made up a custom battery tray. I also added some thin carbon fiber sheeting on the bottom of the floats just forward of the step.
I have the model set up as electric power... an Eflite Power 160 (2700 watts) and plan to run 10 cells in series. Two LiFe battery packs for receiver and LEDs.
I'll post a few dozen photos of her and the sadness of all this is that I am going to have to sell the model due to the fact that I have an MR Aerodesign Beaver under construction that is eating up all my funds.
Enjoy! I hope I'm not posting too many pics... I certainly like to see others' work, so I hope no one minds!
Curt
