PBY
There's a lot of talk, but little action, when it comes to people building PBY's. The complex curves and twin engines tend to scare most people away.
I just bought the RC Modeler plans (#649) for one. It's very sport scale, ie. monokote and rudder only. I plan on building it early this spring, after I finish a couple of other projects first. It doesn't look extremely difficult, although it's going to take some time. It appears to build very lite, and two (2) O.S. .15 LA's should fly it well. At least I'll have a minimal investment.
The only ARF I know of was made by Kyosho, and is now discontinued. I've read good and bad things about it. However, for the most part, it appeared to turn-out heavy.
Regards,
Robb Hansen

Try this link. I don't have one of Jim's PBY's, but I do have the Corsair and the workmanship is very good.

Hi!
The Kyosho PBY Catalina ARF model is a very nice flyer on two OS .15LA or FP engines . I have assembled and flown two of them and they are very easy to fly! They fly at just over walking speed on under half throttle, like a sailplane.
Regards!

I have a set of plans for the RCM 2X10 sized one that were blown up to suit 2-25's. It is still sans ailerons but a little imagination could cure that. All ribs and bulkheads are shown but the plastic bits could be a problem.
I am not sure of copyright laws regarding enlarged plans.
If legal, copies could be made available for cost and postage. I will have to investigate the cost of duplication. There are two large sheets.

I have a 108" PBY-5, scratch built from plans. The plan provider is Vintage RC plans. the owner, Fred Novack, usually has a small ad in the model magazines. As someone said in an earlier post, It is a VERY ambitious project, and a little intimidating. But do-able.
