Check with the East Hampton Airport, there are numorus commuter (helicopter and fixed wing) flights from there to the city and surrounding area. They may give you a lead to a Seaplane Port or operator. It also houses a lot of private planes. I have often observed seaplanes landing on Peconic Bay during the summer. Also check with Long Island MacArthur Airport (Islip) in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County Airport (Francis S Gabreski Airport, formely Calverton) near Westhampton, and Alli-Jen Aviation in Westhampton Beach and the Port Authority in NYC. Use the Map and Direction option on Windows Live Search or MSN, it may help also in your search.
