4th of July float fun!
I spent the holiday week over the 4th of July up at our cabin which gave me quite a bit of time to do some float flying. I got to maiden both my Senior Telemaster on floats as well as my Neptune.....both of which flew great .
My telemaster is powered by a Magnum .80 four stroke pulling an APC 14x5N at around 9500rpm. Takes off in about 30-40 feet and flies great at half throttle. Halfway through the week I noticed the engine surging and saw that the head gasket was leaking. I still flew it the rest of the week with the engine limping along. I even managed to strap a video camera on her belly and take some aerial video as well as pulling an American flag banner on the 4th with a smoke bomb taped on to the floats for added effect.
The Neptune was a blast. Even with a somewhat underpowered Magnum .61 four stroke turning an APC 12x6 at 9200 rpm, It took off in 15 feet and had enough poop to scoot through the air with ease. It only had about 5 feet of vertical [] and struggled on large loops, but it tracked great and didn't have any bad tendencies.
