Default gulfhawk biplane on floats

I was at the Lake Casitas float fly near Ojai, California this morning and spotted this Gulfhawk biplane. enjoy the pictures! the float fly was sponsored by the Ventura County Comets. by the way I didn't get the details on this plane, but it looked great in the air.

As you can see by the first photo the water gets everywhere!

Spray deflectors on the inside of the floats will stop that.

If that's a wooden prop, it will be a self-correcting situation!..

The guy in the green jacket is me, i'm the hired gun that gets to fly this plane. it was built and is owned by Richard Snider, of the Canyon Crosswinds club. Richard is a better builder than flyer. its a scratch built Great Lakes with a wingspan about 7'. powered by a Moki 180. weighs about 16 pounds. painted Coverite. it flies really good, but is way over powered. that water spray only lasts about two seconds before it's on the step. and the wood prop is coated with epoxy. we will be at the Castaic lake float fly in sept.and maybe at the Cachuma lake float fly in June. see you there!
