Default What size engine on a Sig Kadet Seniorita ?

I am going to build a Sig Kadet Seniorita for my first float plane. What size of engine should I use ? Below is the specs on the plane.

Engine: .15-.25 (2-stroke) or .21-.35 (4-stroke)

Wingspan: 63"
Wing Area: 746 sq in
Flying Weight: 3.75 lbs
Wing Loading: 12 oz/sq ft
Fuselage Length: 50"
Airfoil: Flat-Bottom High-Wing

Thanks
Jim

Go with a .20-.25 2-stroke.
If you get good floats you don't need a monster motor to get airborne.
These guys are, like you, in CA, and make good floats.

Other float suppliers are listed in the FLFLFL website.
Lots of pics of Kadet Seniors with floats on the Florida Float Flyers' website. The Seniorita wll be a good floatplane.

The only trouble I've found with the Senorita is when it is a bit windy the plane will tip over easily due to it's large dihedral and it's light weight. You might want to keep the floats spaced apart farther than normal.......Seaplane

Ditto what seaplane said, and if you have not yet built the wing, build it flat.

When taxiing, use the ailerons to hold the upwind wing down.
You ARE using ailerons, right?
3-channel floatplanes can be really challenging to taxi.

Yes I will be building in ailerons. I have not built the kit yet. I have a set of floats, 28" long and the floats are set up 14" apart center to center.

Seaplane, how far apart should I space the floats ?

Thanks for all the info guys.

Rule of thumb is the float spacing is 25% of the wingspan.
If you go much wider than that, (more than 1/3 span, anyway) the plane may become unstable on takeoff, due to large offset drag moments (if one float grabs a little, it will get more leverage and loop you).

Here: read this.

The Seniorita wing I have is 64" so 1/4 of that would be 16" which should be fine. Also Mr. Casey suggested to build the wing flat and I would do just that. You won't need the dihedral if you are adding ailerons and it will be more stable on the water.....Seaplane

I saw one fly with the OS 26 4C. It was a beautiful combo.
