Default 1/8 sport scale Widgeon scratch build

I'm going to be building this sport scale Grumman Widgeon over the winter from plans I designed and wanted any suggestions to the design before I actually start building. Scratch building is nothing new for me but seaplanes kinda are. Here's the specs
L: 49.75
WS: 61.5
WA: approx 579in sq
AR: 6.2
WL: 19.9@5lbs, 23.8@6lbs
Airfoils: S8036 at the root, S8037 at the tip E168 for tail surfaces
I'm thinking a pair of OS25's would power it just fine

Thats a cool project.
I just cant see a 6 pound weight RTF.
It seems that its a bit small to be light on wingloading. Why not make a larger 46 size bird?
I'd love to have one.
Why not build 2 and I'll buy one after a sucessfull maiden

The small size is due to the pond size across the street from my house. I know 6lbs is a strectch but I'm going to try to hit it

Well go for it..
You could probably stretch it to 68 or 72 and still fly on 25's.
I really dont have true experience in this, but my gut tells me a 7 or 8 pounder with bigger wings should fly nicer in a confined area. Modern builds can use FG fuses and laser cut wood to keep weight to minimums. Its nearly impossible to dublicate this as a sratch build on the smaller scale. Especially an ambhibious, twin
Please dont let my comment deter you. Your idea is very cool and many of us would love to see it materialize and work. [8D][8D]

Great subject to model! Kudos.

I believe you could keep that size model under 6 lbs. if you plan the build properly. However, you will need strength. Water hurts!

Could take the above advice and build bigger.

Drive to a larger lake and there would be more people to annoy there. [sm=bananahead.gif]

I'm on the drawing board with one at about 80".

Good luck.

Well guys, after a lot of thought I've decided to stick with this size. I MIGHT go the electric route for power but I'm still undecided(counter rotating props would help out a lot) As far as progress, I won't have hardly any time to put into this project til after Thanksgiving due to work. Once work slows down I will be hitting this one hard to have it ready for next year
