That is one cool looking flying boat. Have you heard how it flys? How good are the plans? Any reviews on it?

DReigard,
I assume you are also CaptAhab in RCGroups, as your city and state is the same? You know I am interested. I'm excited. Would it be possible to get the plans with the kit just to save some time?
Glad more folks are signing up.
Curtis
P.S. It's a shame that BalsaUSA doesn't carry this as a full kit, this is one beautiful plane.

The more i look at it the more i love it. Would the foam wings come with the short kit? Please post a price as soon as you get it.

Skeeter - From what  I've read, the plans show the templates to cut the cores and I'm sure dan wouldnt have a problem cutting them if thats the way you want it.

Curtis- yes thats me on the other site, that name was taken here. Someone will have to send him a set of plans to make the files but after he's done one he'll have them. He cant sell the plans.

I was hoping for more response than this to get the price down,  I'll be cutting my own kit by hand. So it's up to who ever wants to take over and talk to Dan about getting a laser cut kit, his email is posted above.
I'll post my build latter,  good luck...

How many people were you hoping to have on board? How many do you have now? Have you contacted anyone else like Lazerworks? Do you have any estimates of what the cost would be for the short kit? I do wonder if this question hasn't been advertised enough. I just saw this posted today for the first time here on RCU.
Best Regards,
Curtis

Curtis, I had a good laser guy lined up to do this and it's been a week with only 2 or 3 people responding. So if you want to take the reigns it's all yours. I have plenty of power tools to cut my own kit so thats what I'll be doing.  I'll save that money to buy my motor and controller.

Good Luck Bro...

Well, I would be interested. Depending on the cost of course. Do the plans give the option of a foam or built up wing? I would be inclined to do it out of balsa, as I never have done a foam wing. But, may have to learn huh? Short kits do make building so much easier/quicker.

The building guide spells out the use of the foam wing, but the plans include the layout for a built-up wing, so it could be done either way. I would like to know from another source how much a short kit would be, including wing ribs.

So it's been awhile since this thread was acitve. Where are we as far as a laser cut short kit is concerned? I'm guessing we're still at the same point as the last post. Anyway I just ordered a set of plans and the Flying Models magazine build article, had to have it, although they won't arrive until sometime in late August. Flying Models is real, real slow. I might send the plans to a laser cutter outfit and see what it would cost.

Later,
Fred
