Water rudder

It's been many, many years since I flew off water and I was wondering if you have to have a water rudder. Old high wing trainer and Bee Gee floats (i'll get flamed for that). That's what I had success with before but was wondering if the rudder was a must?

I fly my stick 60 without a rudder. If it is windy, I don't do well with it. If it is calm I can turn it with no problems. But yes, I would think you should go with a rudder.

You'll be happier if you start with one rather than having to stop flying and put one on later

One is best if you have any wind. I love GeeBee floats, wish they were still made.

Evan: SIG makes GeeBee floats.
DLT: See my website for how to taxi with floats/sans water rudder..

With no wind, no problems
with wind, you will wish you had one (or two)
