Large scale EX 300 and ST3250 motor?

I'm wondering if a Super Tigre 3250 nitro engine will deliver enough power
for a 96" span, 16-18lbs. Extra 300? Or what about an 84" span and
slightly less weight? The 3250 is roughly 33ccs. Just interested in some easy
sport flying to begin with. Also, what torque ozs. would you recommend on
the elevator (duals), rudder and wing servos? I'm new to large scale and could
use some suggestions! Many thanks. Ollie B. Santa Rosa, CA.

The Super Tiger 3250 motor has more power than what a lot of
people would think, it is also a very thirsty brute, so plan on having
plenty of nitro on hand, BTW it likes FAI fuel (0% nitro) but will also
do well on 5%. I have one that I have flown on a 150% Ugly Stick
can't remember the exact weight of the airplane but it wasn't light,
maybe around the 15 pound mark. As far a servos go I would go
with metal geared ones with a torque rating around 100 oz. in.

I think you would be disappointed. A 96" Extra would usually run 60cc to 80cc. You would find it quite difficult to get it at that low of a weight also. An 84" Extra would be better but even they run 40cc to 50cc. The big Tiger is best suited for aerobatic airplanes around 78" to 80" with a target weight of around 15 lbs. A good example is my Laser 200. At 94" span it weighs 16 lbs and is powered with a DLE 55. The 55 spins a 23X8 prop at 6,300 and I could use a tad more power. I know you arent looking for unlimited performance but I'm sure you want more then just enough to fly level.
