RE: High Hour, Previous Student Pilot now Private Pilot

I don't think I have much to worry about him. He isn't willing to take passengers until he goes up with me and takes a passenger with to learn how the aircraft reacts just a little different, at...

2000 Olds Alero help-anyone?

Hi everyone I bought a 2000 Olds Alero with the 2.4L Engine with 100k on it. However lately, mainly starting yesterday, it runs great, but when it idles, it jumps between 500-800rpm, and then stalls...

RE: New Cessna 350/400

Hey yeah I don't personally like the new glass cockpit thing, but hey, if it is what I have to fly to get into the air someday, that is what I will have to do.

RE: High Hour, Previous Student Pilot now Private Pilot

The only main problem I really had was him getting his medical end of February, which shows up on the 8710, and then he got all the solo time since then. I guess to me 45 hours solo is alot in 5-ish...

High Hour, Previous Student Pilot now Private Pilot

I signed a student off for his checkride 2 weeks ago and he passed. However he has 80 dual given and 45 PIC/Solo hours. I know this is high, it took the student a lot of confidence to get his...

RE: Dual Received

Do you- I am going to imagine you are a pilot- actually believe it is safe though to teach somebody everything in that, or do some of both? My flight school wouldn't let me when I was younger and...

RE: Dual Received

I wish I could just get him to solo first. Ground Reference is one of the parts required for solo. He knows his stuff- knowledge wise- but when it comes to the visual effect, he lacks, so he should...

RE: Dual Received

Yeah I had a student already pull that on me this year. Not happening again. Needless to say it was the FAA that caught the kid this summer and he was only 16 on a solo. You do have that correct,...

RE: Dual Received

This student has a tendency to look at the instruments the entire time and not out the window. I have been trying to teach him to look outside, listen to the sound of the engine (as to...

Dual Received

Ok a question. With only being a CFI for a bit with primary students I haven't heard of this one before and the Chief CFI at my flight school is gone, so I have a question. I have a student that...

RE: FAA Medical Examiner making student unhappy

Thanks for the information. The student just went through a mental evaluation, which he passed with flying colors according to the Dr., his doctor even told him, he wished every pilot had to take...

RE: Boom- avistar straght into ground

I know I could, but I have others, and there is an auction coming up for R/C planes in the Twin Cities, so I'll part mine out, and put the parts in a new plane.

RE: Boom- avistar straght into ground

Had some snow, but it just melted right away. It was less then an inch, if just above a trace. No icing at all was happening with the R/C planes, but I know it was with the full scale planes that...

RE: Boom- avistar straght into ground

Yes I was still flying. As to the phrase, I don't know, I could have brought it down, but I just thought, since it was a plane that I was disassembling anyways in a couple weeks, for parts, why not...

RE: FAA Medical Examiner making student unhappy

Well, I am giving him all of this today. Thanks for all the help. I know he needs to be more active, he just feels like junk, because the doc wasn't willing to do anything until he got everything,...

RE: FAA Medical Examiner making student unhappy

I think that should help. So I guess he needs FAA approval. How long can he expect it to be to get a decision or a final approval?

RE: FAA Medical Examiner making student unhappy

He had it diagnosed when he was 8 or 9, he got off the meds about a 8 months - a year ago. His family doctor beleived he was doing just fine, and he wasn't having any problems. I called him up, he...

RE: FAA Medical Examiner making student unhappy

I'm fine, it's not for me, it's for a 16 year-old student. I'll tell him to keep his mouth shut!
