How in heavens name do you get 8S out of 24 volts? Totally dead 8S is 24 volts. Fully charged 6S is only 25.2. Nominal 8S is 30.4. With throttle pinned the 6S will drop to something around 22 volts....

Steering should be easy. Servo into the receiver. Motors will need and ESC to run the motors, they would not work straight off the receiver. Probably the part on the board that was the ESC is faulty....
