also placement of the tank matters with that motor. the carb need to be as close the the center line of the tank as possible. the carb is designed to pull fuel but it does not have any way to stop it...

the metal mount acts like a heat sink and pulls heat away from the engine. does the engine start right back up when you get it back on the ground? 20:1 oil mixture is correct for that motor .

I know with the valiant factory tank the carb level was almost at the bottom of the tank . in order to get the low tuned in properly you had to adjust the needle way past the factory recommendations...

The larger fg motors i think from the fg21 and up use a different carb then the smaller motors . They are not tank position critical like the smaller motors .

your low setting should be 5 to 5/12 in from the adjustment screw flush with the throttle arm. the high you have correct . i start with 1 to 1 1/2 on the high . the motor will start on these settings...
