RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Not a problem Mike, thanks for the reply. I guess I am not as willing to accept inferior workmanship or designs as others may be.

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Wasn't me who said it was gone. But I did check and saw it is still there, to bad, modelers are still at risk.

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

I am hoping they have taken it off the market for now until they fix this safety I do have a feeling the right people have been informed of this. I would be most inpressed if they did that. Who...

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

I would wait, otherwise, modelers will always have to fix the manufactures flaws. Not right. However, if you can't wait. Let your LHS owner know of your concern and have him let his rep know. ...

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

When the engine came off it went to the right first before bouncing forward. Hit the wing. VERRRRY SCARY moment in my modeling career.

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Joe thought I should post this picture of the H9 Corsair just after the firewall busted loose on the table.
Imagine 11,000 rpm of screaming Saito 100 coming at you. Again, if you just gotta have...

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Hi Richard, sorry don't have the plane any longer. But here is a photo. I had a 13" prop on it at the time. Maybe this will give you an idea of the clearance.

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Joe,
The Cowl was a pretty snug fit as I remember. If you put layers of glass on the exterior of the fuse, I am sure you will have to deal with the cowl fit.

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Adding ply to the front of the firewall, in my opinion would not help. The existing firewall is two pieces of 1/8 ply glued together. There are 8 butt joints of stringers, 6 are 1/4 soft balsa, and...

RE: Hangar 9 Corsair ground clearance

Here is a pic of the firewall, when not beefed up. Many glue voids and looks like a very shakey design for such a critical part.

RE: <span class=

I am beginning to think Hangar 9 is the worst. Bad retracts in the war birds, all sizes. Poor quality control on the assembly line. My new Corsair had the firewall leave the model while setting the...

Great Planes Stuka, anyone flown yet?

Here is how I mounted the Wheel Pants on my Stuka. I put down a bead of clear RTV and then screwed them down. However, I did have hardwood blocks to screw into.
