RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi Anthrax,

Here's some pics. You can also see the landing gear method of attachment.
The aluminium tube is 9.5mm diameter x 0.8mm wall thickness. I sourced this from a local TV antenna...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Will take some closeup pics tomorrow and post them. Landing gear is made from spring steel. This was taken from a foldup washing basket. 4 arms connect at centre using a 4 way plastic garden...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi Anthrax,

Sorry, I meant cheapest in the Great Planes Rimfire range.
I'd be keen to know how the TGY AerodriveXp motors perform. Wow, certainly a very good price.

Hi anthrax,

Thankyou for prop info. The Rimfire 750 Kv motors are also the cheapest in the whole range.

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

If a quadrotor is travelling horizontally at constant velocity, this suggests a tilted quadrotor. A level quadrotor would tend to be stationary. We're assuming no wind here.

You can be tilted...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi Guys,

I've done quite a bit of experimentation with complimentary filter of Gyro/Accelerometer.
The system works really well if you have your gains and drift correction time periods set...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

I use SPI for the following reasons:

SPI pads are already on the esc pcb (Originally used for programming of esc micro at factory)
I2C I/O lines are in use on the esc as normal port I/O
SPI...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi Anthrax,

500 Hz is good! So your PID algorithm is also running at 500 Hz ?
You say in earlier post that you built your own esc. You will have been through the same hurdles as me with...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi bulutadam,

You must control the ESC with PPM signal - not PWM signal.

PPM info here:

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Perhaps the ADXR150 is a lot more stable. I haven't tested one yet.
I know that the Murata gyros are a lot more temperature stable than the Tokin gyros.
I have tested both brands.

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Too thin a rod will encourage oscillation in the rods. Even my 7.4mm rods acted like tuning forks at a certain motor frequency. I had to add a 3mm diameter CF outer perimeter brace between the 4...
