RE: Can electrics takeoff on grass?

I would disagree that hand launching electrics is the norm. A lot of peolpe do hand launch, but I suspect that just as many or more prefer to ROG. Personally, I hate to hand launch, so I always put...

RE: Newbee needs help!!!

You should be able to use a receiver from a gas plane with no problems. The esc needs to either be programmable or must have the cut off voltage pre-set at a high enough level to protect the lipo. ...

RE: What plane for this equipment???

A GWS Beaver would probably fly pretty well on that - I think even tha battery might be enough for the Beaver. You can get a slope glider kite for about $30.

RE: just asking

I think the Commander is as good a choice as any to start out. I learned on one of those about 2 years ago now. Two of those actually, the first one flew away. Replacement parts are readily...

RE: Upgrading PZ J3 Cub electronics....Advice, please....

That looks like a good equipment list. The only thing I would suggest is to put it all in a new plane and leave the PZ Cub stock as a second plane.

You are correct that once you buy a...

RE: Low wing trainer

I am not sure there really is such a thing as a low wing trainer. All of them are a bit touchy. However, you might take a look at some of the World Models ARF's distributed by Airborne. The...

RE: just asking

The P-51 is an advanced airplane. It would be a VERY BAD choice for your first airplane. Go with a slow flying high wing airplane until you learn the basics of control.

RE: eceiver replacement

Parkzone transmitter won't work with anyhting but Parkzone circuit board electronics.

If you want to move up to brushless motors, you really should get yourself a regular 72 mgh transmitter.

RE: Suggested brushless motors? There's so much to choose from :(

I am flying the Himax 2812-1080 on a World Models Mustang with an AUW of about 22 oz. Am using a 9060 APC prop and TP 1900 mah 3s. I really like the motor. Mine cruises well at 1/2 throttle and...

RE: Storing all my planes

I use PVC racks that I made myself for about $15 each. It is basically a rectangle that stands on a base (made using "T"s) with 9" straight peices sticking straight out of the rectangle and covered...

RE: UltraFly Extra 300S build thread

You are undoubtedly better off to use the manufacturers specs for control surface travel - I just never do that for some unknown reason. I usually use the outside hole on the servo arm and the...

RE: UltraFly Extra 300S build thread

The rates percentages I am quoting are out of 100% of servo arm travel. They have nothing to do with the manufacturers specs. So 40% would be 40% of the maximum possible throw.

RE: UltraFly Extra 300S build thread

Forgot - I use the Phoenix 25 as well and only 3 servos - it works fine, but you can get in trouble if you try to go 4 servos on that esc.

RE: UltraFly Extra 300S build thread

Sorry Guys, I went to bed after my last post so I just saw the continuing discussion.

I agree that this is not a good plane to hand launch. It is just too quick and if it is out of trim at all...

RE: UltraFly Extra 300S build thread

Well, if you can have an experienced instructor take her up and get her trimmed and tamed down, and then turn her over to you on a buddy box, your chances of success will go WAY up. That is probably...

Twin Turbo,

If I am reading this thread correctly, you stated that you are a relatively inexperienced pilot in the beginning of this discussion, and then you guys just seemed to skip over that...

RE: World Models Rambler EP

Mine is seriously alergic to too much up elevator - it will snap over into a death spiral every time. Other than that, it is a good flyer. Limit your elevator throw to about 1/4" either way, or...

RE: brushless or not

You would probably gain more in performance and flight time for less money by going to a GWS 350C motor and a 2 cell lipo with about 1500 mah. Mine flew for 20 to 30 minutes on that set up with a...

RE: Plane won't auto recover from a dive...

Actually, if you your plane will continue in a straight line on a 45 degree dive when you let go of the sticks your CG is perfect. If it tries to pull out of the dive by itself, you are nose heavy. ...

RE: GWS P-51 first flight

That plane will fly a lot better if you go to a battery with around 1000 mah. That 1800 is making your plane way too heavy and weight is everything on GWS warbirds

RE: ESC help.

You will need a 10 amp esc on the setup you mentioned. You will be pushing the 10 amp limit at WOT early in the flight when the battery is still peaked, so don't hold WOT for more than a few...

RE: ParkZone P-51 Mustang RTF

It is a pretty long leap from a J-3 Cub to any low wing warbird. I would not suggest that. The initial flight reports on this plane are mixed. I would wait a couple of weeks at least and see how...

RE: Aerobird Extreme
