RE: High amp 5955 servos

Troy built models has a page on their website where they test current values, torque,
and the effect of extension lengths and terminal junctions. Expect a 25% reduction in applied
torque with...

RE: Spectrum DX7

I believe Chip Hyde suspends his recievers with rubber bands. This will eliminate high frequency, high G vibrations but will allow larger displacement low freguency oscillations. These oscillations ...

RE: Spectrum DX7

There are so many causes of transient conditions that can cause an intermittant failure it is almost impossible to list them for a FMEA. It is obvious that the proliferation of microwave relay...

RE: Can Futaba R149DP handle 5 5955 servo or do i need a Powerbox?

Mike you keep insisting the average current is low, which I can agree on BUT:
The IR drop across the system resistance determines the voltage and current available to the servo(s) at peak load,...

RE: Can Futaba R149DP handle 5 5955 servo or do i need a Powerbox?

Yes there is a lot of luck, however I keep reading about unexplained servo failures that work perfectly after the accident, intermittent reciever failures, just luck I guess.

Luck, the bring...

RE: Can Futaba R149DP handle 5 5955 servo or do i need a Powerbox?

Mike described it better than I could, the best analogy I can come up with is a conventional light bulb. The bulb filament will conduct a large amount of current but the voltage drop across it...

RE: just recieved bme115

The only manual I know of is downloadable from the BME site. It is not specfic on the 115 but ahs all of the necessary information. With the possible exception of a torque value for the 6 prop bolts,...

RE: Can Futaba R149DP handle 5 5955 servo or do i need a Powerbox?

One thought you must keep in mind, the neat little connectors used are only rated at 3 amps.

Servo current draw when stalled can approach or exceed 3 amps, and draw in excess of 1 amp during...

RE: Just purchased a bme 115!!!!!!!!

Look up the threads on baffling the 115 there are some good ideas there.

RE: GP Christen Eagle II flyers: what wheels are you using?

Stock will work, I went to 4" Kavan inflatables to help eliminate the bounce.

A taller wider gear from TnT will also help.

RE: BME110 xtreme, is everyone HAPPY!!!!!!!

Naw you made a bad.

I'll give you $25 for it.

Seriously should be good engine, there are several threads on baffleing and tuning this engine, use search to find. generally good things, some...

RE: So what exactly is building??

Well I do not know about the rest of you but I "build" my ARF's. I take pride in a clean assemby, measuring, double checking, fitting, modifying where necessary or wanted, detailing, componet...

RE: Lathe for conversions

I believe many of the tools are sourced from the same Chinese factory but with different spec levels.

I bought mine from Grizzly, and Micro Mark.

After looking at the tools in a Harbor...

RE: RC Planes, Aerodynamics, and the elevator

Sillyness, You are correct.

Model aircraft do not fully obey fullsize rules due to the radically different Reynolds numbers.

Don't get me too deep into this as I have retired and lost my...

RE: RC Planes, Aerodynamics, and the elevator

Sillyness:

Just depends on your definition of a stall (where have I heard that?).

I think, don't hold me too closely to this, a stall is the seperation of airflow from the wing surface...

RE: RC Planes, Aerodynamics, and the elevator

We have an experienced modeler in our club that complains when he flies a model that will snap out or mush badly when full elevator is applied.

It seems to me he sets his aircraft up to correct...

RE: BME 110 Xtreme first impressions

Also when tuning allow enough time for the engine to stabilize, at least 15 seconds to 1 minute. more is better but don't cook it. You can cycle the power. It seems to take some time for "residuals"...

0-200 engines as installed in C-150 are baffled similar to the Chip Hyde example but in addition have sheet aluminum wrapped around and spring clipped to the cylinder. These have an ~2 inch wide...

RE: 2-stroke experts, set me straight.

Longer strokes definitely help two strokes. The longer stroke (for a given bore size) give a longer transfer duration and more intake charge volume. Increasing port widths is definate a power adder,...

RE: Cutting weight on the DPM Ultimate 1.20

Mine came in at 12# 4 oz with an OS 160, 18x6W prop, spinner, pants, complete.

BME has a new 55 CC engine coming out, 2.1 pounds.

I know of one with a G26, flew like crap.

A 50 CC gas...
