As Ed says, you first complete a full break in of your engine.
You may need to restrict your carb bore at about 1/3rd.
Mine is turning a 20X8 prop at 7000 rpms but it took some time to get in to...

Well, after some tests, I just can`t get more than 6500 rpm from my G2300 /Davis Diesel head converted swinging a Master Airscrew wood 18X8 at no more than merely 6500 rpm.

Well, after some tests, finally I managed to get my engine running smoothly, the mix was 48% truck diesel, 30% ether, 20% lube mix(synthetic 9%, Castor 9%) and 2% MEKP.
I made a carb restrictor...

Well, to be honest, I only used the original carb when I broke in this engine, for me, the middle range was not as good as I like, and after all the threads I read concerning problems with this...

I will go for the 12X5, you really wont notice the lower speed and will give more thrust than the 11X8 that will help you doing more precise maneuvers, you can´t go wrong with it.
