RE: Jet Stunt

An early 70's issue of American Aircraft Modeler had an RC Phantom that used a Dynajet for power.

RE: Inside loop cuts engine off

A classic problem with a sideways mounted Fox 35 (like on a profile) is the cut-out when going inverted. Turns out, the tank really needs to be higher than the thrust line, by about 5/16". This...

RE: Older 25 FP break in

Marvin Denny is convinced that the Fox 35 needs the high castor content for cooling, not just lubrication. A high content synthetic will still burn the engine up if it's not castor. I guess it's...

RE: Crimped on vs wrapped.

OK - I will admit, those look like the best connectors I've seen. I would not hesitate to use those. They do look much safer than slide connectors, because it looks like there's no way to get them...

RE: top flite nobler with brodak 40... you opinion

Perhaps you meant a Brodak 40 is lighter than a LA 40. I don't believe there is a 35-40 sized engine lighter than a Fox 35.

RE: Crimped on vs wrapped.

Green River RC -

You have asked some questions that are the subject of constant debate in the C/L community. Let me offer my opinions, too - but you will have to decide whose sound best for...

RE: ST Needles

Unfortunately, that's my experience exactly. I can't help it, but I have always had a personal policy of ordering something trivial first. Then when successful, I may order something more...

RE: top flite nobler with brodak 40... you opinion

fox4ever is right. Whatever tank you use, you really only need to run the overflow out. As long as the tube can be opened for overflow, it'll work. You can fuel through the muffler pressure line. ...

RE: ST Needles

You too, huh? Not to worry. Virginia Hobby Sport, Randy Smith, and Tom Dixon all have them. The real surprise?
Tower Hobbies - they sell the NVA for the ST 51 CL version, and is the same needle...

RE: The High Flyin' Guy

Didn't mean to imply anything. The AMA is big enough and has been around long enough to have plenty of opinions either way. I was just trying to clarify that someone misinterpreted between who was...

RE: The High Flyin' Guy

You misunderstood because Tom's post included a quote from Jerry Bohn. Jerry's quote included the passage about the AMA.

RE: Control line losing popularity? So what!

Paul -

Agree 100% again. I like SSW, but I think many of them have lost sight to the reality of business. They're so spoiled in the quality of their cottage industries, that they have no...

RE: Why is CL losing popularity?

Ha-ha! Good luck on that one! A very nice reply, but I wouldn't push it too far. I think that's why it's important to realize that young people will not be consistent with the hobby - they can't...

RE: Control line losing popularity? So what!

Paul,

No problem. I get carried away with the rhetoric myself. As a matter of fact, I agree with everything you've written in this last post - particularly your views on PAMPA vs. AMA and...

RE: Control line losing popularity? So what!

People read other threads besides the one they're in. You may not have made a specific remark in this thread to draw DOC's ire, but in the other "Why is CL losing popularity?" thread you made some...

RE: To flap, or not to flap?

Flaps are always recommended if you want to fly like a stunter. They actually help the plane "groove" and fly maneuvers much smoother, and minimize control input. This may seem contradictory, but a...

RE: Engine thrust Angles

Actually, down thrust and right thrust are both used in model aircraft pattern designs. Both are used to keep the flight at 0-0 during maneuvers. The propwash and torque effect will make a...

RE: Why is CL losing popularity?

There is a desire in our society for alternatives to sterile technology, and a nostalgic return to the satisifaction of simpler achievements. Control Line should be able to capitalize on that, and...

RE: Anhedral tailplanes on aerobatic types

Makes sense, but a completely new design is likely to be thoroughly tunnel tested - if not part of the actual specification. It may be that the F4H shared enough similarity with the F3H that...

RE: Anhedral tailplanes on aerobatic types

Some flight test data is classified to the extent of whether it exists. Solutions may also be driven by outside forces not immediately apparent to the Engineer. Very few design Engineers have...

RE: Re-Birth

I agree about fast combat planes and the wind - who cares? I lost a lot of helpers with my Toothpicks (kind of like a Winder). It always wanted to flip back in their face, and they got too scared...
