DD electric motor mount ideas? Glow to electric

As the title says I'm converting my DD from glow to electric. The picture is the of the motor I'm going to use. Anyone know any type of mount that will work? I've seen some 90 degree mounts that...

Mike,
I've been working mostly with the Edge but if you have a better more realistic model please let me know.

Better giant scale 3d models aerofly 5?

Hello,
I love the sim for everything but 3d flying. The planes flew more realistic in the older afpd. I have a Mac computer now and got af5.5 but the planes tip stall more than any real life...

Is this enough motor for a Diamond Dust electric?

I currently have a Dust flying with an older Sport Jett 46. Flies great and I'm happy about the speed but I'm finding myself flying less glow and more electric or gas. I have a Turnigy 3648 1450kv...

RE: what to use for spacers

The DA60 comes with plywood spacers and tells you in the instruction manual that if you need more, to cut some out of plywood until the right standoff distance is achieved. I ended up cutting...

RE: My first Dust is done

Now you got me thinking about it. I have some 90 inch-oz. digital carbonite geared servos. Would that be adequate? If so, I can always use these 8411's on another plane.

RE: My first Dust is done

Thanks guys.
Freakinfast,
The engine is an older Sport Jett 46 I picked up used here on RCU.

Combatpigg,
The final linkage geometry isn't yet determined. As it sits it's a 1:1...

My first Dust is done

Thanks for all who've guided me in the building and engine/CG/etc questions I had along the way. It came out great. Just need to bolt up the engine and program the radio. I hope to fly it this...

RE: Diamond dust cg check

freakin,
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give it a go then. Also, until this evening I didn't even know if this Jett even ran. I bought it used off the classifieds here. the muffler is...

RE: Diamond dust cg check

Hmm. Good point. I may have to go that route or look for a lighter .40-.46 size engine. I jumped the gun and widened the motor mount for the Jett 46 so now that's probably too wide for a .32 or...

Diamond dust cg check

I'm building a Dust and plan to use a sport Jett 46 on it. I'm using the red Jett muffler. I'm at the point of laying out where to put the throttle servo so I laid the engine in and servos in to...

RE: Couple Diamond Dust questions

No, I don't have the 46pro anymore. I have a couple Supertigre GS40s not doing anything, but they're rather heavy for a 40. I hope to sell some RC stuff in the near future and then I'll have more...

RE: Couple Diamond Dust questions

That sounds like a plan. I just picked up the kit today and not the engine so I'll be looking for a good larger speed engine. I'd love to own a Jett. They are pricey, but I can appreciate the...

Couple Diamond Dust questions

A club member offered to sell me a Diamond dust kit and a used O.S. 25 rear exhaust engine with a tuned pipe for a good price. I can't seem to find much on the engine and he wasn't sure the model of...

RE: Engine for World Models Sky Raider Mach II

I've flown mine with a Supertigre GS40 to a rear exhaust .60 pattern engine on a tuned pipe! It really doesn't matter. Run what you have, or just buy a .46-55 since that will give you more options...

RE: World Models Sky Raider Mach II

I can't say anything bad about this plane, other than the covering doesn't last that long. I've been flying mine since 2005 and it just won't die. It's overpowered and has been flown HARD for years...

RE: Ultra Stick 60 with Saito 72

Hey, do you guys think an OS120ax would be too heavy for the 60 size Ultrastick? I was looking at what two stroke to install and while I like the looks of the new OS95ax, I can't get over the fact...

RE: First 3D Plane

I learned 3D on a mojo. I had planes marketed as "3D" before that but they weren't. The UCD will teach you how to hover or flat spin, but they are eggshell fragile and don't do the high alpha...

RE: Venus II

Yeah, what he said.  Program mix (you should have 4 or 6 of them).  Then throttle to rudder and assign it to a switch or just keep it always on.

RE: Venus II

That certainly makes sense and that's what I do with my 3D profile planes - no offset and a slight mix (using a linear mix) of throttle to rudder. I got caught up in a couple articles on how to trim...

RE: Venus II

Did anyone else have to add more right thrust when running their Venus with an os120ax?  Mine pulls left and is carrying a few clicks of right rudder to compensate.  I'm adding a washer as a shim and...

Just maidened my Venus II this evening.  This plane lives up to all the hype.  Smooth and neutral are two terms that come to mind in describing it's traits.  I'm impressed.  this is my first pattern...

Finished my Dominator, but it's HEAVY

As the title says I just built a Lanier Dominator that I've had in various states of completion for about 2 years now. It came out extremely tail heavy and even after switching out the standard tail...
