Jim, that's fine. CP, 1/14 combat sounds fun, too.

Here are both models completed and with their nose art finished.

I'm making progress on the second 30-inch wingspan P-51 Mustang from Gus Morfis' RCM plans. The wing is complete and covered. Now I just need to cover the fuselage and add details. The first one --...

Thanks, James. And, thanks, too, for posting all those build articles on your blog!

By the way, any chance you've got the RCM build article for "The Fox" (late '90s or early '00s)? It's a 48-inch...

Thanks. The wings are sheeted with 1/32 balsa. My technique for skinning all of my foam-core wings is to use a light mist of 3M Super 77 on each part. Gus' plans for this model call for a built-up...

Gus Morfis-Designed Electric 31" Wingspan P-51

Haven't posted anything here in a while so here are pics and video of my latest -- a built-from-plans Gus Morfis-designed electric P-51 Mustang. The model has a 31-inch wingspan and the build article...

I shot a helmet-cam video of my .20 size electric House of Balsa P-51 Mustang on Saturday morning (Sept. 28, 2013). The current power and prop setup are listed in the video description. If you watch...

RE: ProLine literature/information

Does anyone have any information about Pro Line serial numbers? These appear to have been hand-etched with a fine tool (you've got to look hard to discern the numbers) on the I.D. plate on the bottom...

RE: Fare and reasonable fee?

In the politest of terms (hey, I'm a contest director), how come District IV hasn't better coordinated this? I'm planning to fly as much SSC as I can this year. It's a pity that two series (plural)...

RE: Fare and reasonable fee?

Robert, is it correct that your club (HCRCM) and the MARKS club in Salisbury, Md., both have SSC events scheduled for Saturday, April 19?

RE: Cold Duck - Build

If anyone is interested in a scan of the Cold Duck build article from the June 1971 RC Modeler magazine, let me know.

Can anyone explain why I can't simply upload the page images as jpg files...

RE: Airfoil selection

To me, this is an area where many would benefit from some critical thinking before building smaller models from kits or plans. This may be particularly true for Guillow's builders. Look for a good...

RE: Cold Duck - Build

This thread is amazing! Over the weekend I was handed a stack of '71-'72 RCM magazines by a neighbor who had no use for them. So last night, I'm reading through the June 1971 issue (the ads are...

RE: Herr P-51 Mustang

I made a small ply servo tray for the elevator and throttle servos. Mine doesn't have a rudder -- it's not really needed on a hand-launch plane. The Herr Mustang flies very much like a sport-type...

RE: Herr P-51 Mustang

Kept light these planes fly great. The dihedral on the model seems OK, since the rolls are fairly axial. How many RPMs on what prop can you get out of an ASP .15? I'm not familiar with those engines....

Anybody else still flying their Herr Mustangs?

What's the story with these guys that loaded them with retracts and such?

RE: Contest, Laurel, MD. April 10th, at noon.

Kirk,

I'm in too, flying SSC only with JK Aerotech birds. How do you figure the SSC planes will fare in Freestate's typical sublime early spring winds? (Let's see, I'm cold, my eyes are tearing...

RE: HOB 1/2a P-51 + Magnum XL15 = ?

The Pica 1/12ths tend to be on the heavy side. Try to keep it light. There's plastic on the bottom to be mindful of if you're leaving the gear off (I would--the plane looks and flies much better)....

RE: HOB 1/2a P-51 + Magnum XL15 = ?

Here's a link to my 'Stang that is based on the House of Balsa 1/12 model: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Hergett_Mustang/m_2760271/tm.htm

A .15 would be adequate. A .25 makes it great.

RE: Hergett Mustang

I think good (well-designed and built) small planes can fly every bit as well as their larger brethren and have the same or better presence in the air. I like my planes to feel and fly "big" in the...

First flights were this morning. Oustanding! This plane is fast, fast, fast. Did I say fast? It performs just the way a Mustang should--with tremendous power and authority. I never tested my high...

RE: Herr Mustang with or without landing gear?

Eric,

My thoughts on the Herr P-51 landing gear are in this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Herr_P%2D51_Mustang/m_2601315/tm.htm

I agree with your approach. Keep it simple, keep it...

colson, I saw the pics of your Herr 'Stang in the other thread. Looks great. I like the cowl you made.
