Just another point...maybe helpful...the Lancair IV uses the same retracting gear mechanism...I have seen giant scsle Lancairs in race trim...i do not know if they use a similar system or not, but...

The Cessna 210 was first made in 1960, with wing struts. In 1967 these struts were removed. The plane was first made with spring steel main gear, but in 1970 was changed to vanadium tubular steel....
