RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

Been doing some sanding and tidying up, I cut the webbing as stated. However, an experienced builder told me the top to bottom fit was more important than the side to side. So that's been on the to...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

I have a feeling it may lean to one side... ;-)

The second panel went together sooo easily, it was silly. I put the two sides together and it is apparent that I have learnt a lot (and thus the...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

Leading edge, sheeting and wing tip done.

Going slow, as I feel bad today. Can't think right!

Almost time to start on the next panel. I've learnt a lot on this one. Hope I don't improve...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

Thanks MinnFlyer, I like the part about the wood glue, and cleaning it up with a damp cloth! Looking at the last picture I think that relates to me!

As to kicking the cat, it appears I have...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

To Brian, I don't know. I only just looked up what 1/2A was! I've been an ARF guy up to now.

To NM, thanks, I have used a combination of that and wood glue, I've been staring at the bottle...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

I'm not sure what it means in the rectangle. I can't add the sheeting, as it says, over the three innermost ribs, until I put the ribs in...

Now, I cut the angle jig tool, but what is this...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

Not sure on the engine, I have a TT Pro .46, but I am thinking about a ~70 size four stroke. I'll see once it's built!

So, when you tack, you use a small blob of thin CA? When you glue it all...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

OK, so i repositioned the spars to line up on the left, and then will trim on the wingtip when i'm done.

Instructions say to use thick CA. I put this on the inside of the rib and then place on...

RE: First kit build - ACE 4-60 build..

And the first question of many.

Have I done this right, I have aligned the spars up on the right, where do I cut them on the left, which line?

RE: What low winger trainer I can buy??

This was my second plane, and it was great. However as a first plane, it needs to be dialed down. I had a 46AX and it went like a bullet...

RE: Bypass surgery

Odd I come across this.

I had my first ever physical at 34 a couple of weeks back. Everything OK, except my cholesterol was through the roof at 452, and my thyroid not working.

I put...

RE: Switch failure

First experienced this a month or so back.

I was flying my battle worn, tried and trusted 60 size Ultrastick. Taxied back to the pits. Killed the engine and nothing happened. Gave the sticks...

RE: New to the hobby

Apart from having fun, the best piece of advice is to start making room in the garage and the closet.

Clear the shelves, take them down and start making arrangements to store the new planes...

RE: New Motor ISSUE, Please Help.

:):D
Goodness.

On cables use heat shrink.

On food use cling wrap / GLAD whatever you want to call it.

I think the package stuff should be called stretch wrap ...

RE: pinch test

This is a great explanation. You can use a version of the pinch test for low end, or you can just idle for 20 sec or so, rapidly throttle up and see if it bogs down / stalls.

...

RE: Like jumping in a lake without knowing how to swim!

Excellent news.

I don't know what the figures are like on "new pilot survival" for RC. Some people don't realise the cost associated, some try by themselves and crash, some get discouraged...

RE: Like jumping in a lake without knowing how to swim!

There are glow that behave like this as well! It's not the power plant totally, it's the wing loading. I have a .32 Magic that will take off like that, landing is similar to what you're...

RE: Like jumping in a lake without knowing how to swim!

Difficult for me to explain, but i'll try. I'm not being elitist, or at least that's not the intention!

When an electric comes in, it loses speed faster, so you can come in fairly fast, chop...

RE: Like jumping in a lake without knowing how to swim!

Taking off and landing an electric (unless it's a larger built up balsa) is very different than taking off and landing a 40 size glow. An electric will give you some idea of how to fly, but won't...

RE: Like jumping in a lake without knowing how to swim!

Hi CGCINC.

You've asked the right questions, and been given some right answers! The thing is, some people think that flying is easy, a plane is a plane, and thats it.

To some extent that...

RE: K&B 5600 .20 Engine Question.

It's no big deal if you think it through, but I just shoved one servo on, put the control rods on and thought, oh.....!

RE: K&B 5600 .20 Engine Question.

Evening all.

Yep, I have the "extension" and the cylindrical muffler. There was no nipple (sorry, I just like saying that word - and no, i'm not 12!) on the extension.

There is now, $1.90...
