RE: Best profile control linkage

Guys, thanks for the replies. The shiny nipples look a lot like the 2-56/carbon tube pushrods I've made before, and they've been very strong but kind of heavy.

Is there a good lighter way to do...

Best profile control linkage

I'm assembling a new OMP Pro Yak and want to put on a light and precise control linkage. In the past I've used the DuBro 2-56 size ball links which are precise but heavy.

So what is the best...

RE: The "Flight Sim for Mac" Protest!

Here's a thread I put up showing how to load Boot Camp, WinXP and FS One onto your Intel Mac. So far, FS One is running perfectly on my MacBook Pro laptop.

RE: Fusion-Yak hybrid?????

Hey Iowa, that looks outstanding! Mike could kit/arf it just the way it sits.

Saito 125 on the nose? Whose gear is that? Looks good.

RE: Fusion ARFs on the way!!!!

I found my 52" Fusion on the doorstep Sunday evening - I think it arrived Saturday. Fast shipping from OMP - good job.

Out of the box, all the covering is tight - no sagging anywhere. Everything...

RE: Fusion ARFs on the way!!!!

Here are a couple threads that compare the Kat 70, Yak 65 and Fusion. See posts #6 and #8 in the first thread. The Kat and Yak are full-on 3D planes, very high lift, and the Fusion is a Freestyle...

RE: Fusion ARFs on the way!!!!

Hey Mike, John & PlanePlanter,

You guys made my day. I just ordered a 52" Fusion - very excited to see this plane show up as an ARF so quickly. I didn't think it would be available until Fall.

RE: OMP Fusion .46 Trim Contest

Hey Dion,

What do you mean - that Fusion kits are available now, or that you have a few pre-production Fusion .46 arfs, or that you like my scheme idea and that I won one? Yea, I'll take one!

RE: OMP Fusion .46 Trim Contest

The .46 Fusion color scheme I'd like to see is this:

Wing and stab top, fuse and rudder - fluorescent "tennis ball" yellow or Katana yellow
Wing and stab bottom - transparent blue. Wing bottom...

RE: KATANA V2 .46 and .70 SHIPPING ALERT!

Happy Holidays Mike, John and Dion!

That Fusion 46 arf is my next plane - I'm happy to buy it now if you want!

When you guys plan out the color schemes for the Fusion 46, please make sure...

RE: OMP Fusion F3D 90

Mike,

If the wing attachment method is convenient, damage resistant and well-aligned, then I'll vote for two-piece. My existing Kat GS is a tight fit in the back of my four-door sedan and I have...

RE: OMP Fusion F3D 90

Hey Mike or Dion, some small car questions for ya:

What is the wingspan of the 40-size Fusion?
Will it have a one- or two-piece wing?
Fixed in place permanently or removable?

I saw your...

RE: OMP Fusion F3D 90

Hey Mike,

Now that the Fusion F3D kit is here, what do you think your availability timetable will be for the rest of the family:

1. Fusion 90 arf

2. Fusion 40 kit

3. Fusion 40 arf

RE: OMP Fusion F3D 90

Hey Mike, John and Dion,

Can we offer requests for the covering scheme on the arfs?

I'd like a 90 (or a 40 for that matter) in ... Monokote? Ultracote? Haven't been keeping up on that...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

Here's a side note - I can hijack my own thread, right?

Last Saturday the Fox Valley Aero Club had its grand opening and kid's fun fly at its new location. A speech by the Mayor of St. Charles,...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

Thanks for the kudos, guys. Yeah, knife edge loops are easy. I'm working on making them larger and rounder. The vertical performance is outstanding, too, with the Saito .82 and the APC 14x4W prop.

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

Thanks Mike - Yeah, this project really made me think that an all yellow or white arf for custom finishing is a good step between full-on kit building and simply assembling an arf. Of course, it...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

Yeah, the parts that are heavier than stock are:

CG landing gear, axles, DB tires
tank
battery (1650 mah @ 5 oz! Flys all day, though.)
tailwheel assy.

The throttle servo is lighter,...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

Maiden Flight last Thursday, 6/2 right after a thunderstorm rolled through.

1. Adjusting the motor, leaned it out too much and it blew the prop off. The spinner and all the parts were right on...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

The Kat is finished! That's a good looking bird. With the 4" Dave Brown Big Lite grass tires, heavy axles and Sulli 860 tailwheel, the AUW is right at 5 lbs. I sealed all the hinge gaps with 1/2"...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

More pix:

1. Spraying the APC 14 X 4W prop tips white with Krylon Fusion for plastic. Stuff works great. The heli tail rotor is for a Ballistic Technology Corona that I'm building.

2. The...

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

Next up are the control linkages. I'm using DuBro 2-56 ball links and .125 CF tubing to make the pushrods with no slop or binding. Servos are Hitec 6635 for ail and rudder, and 6965 for ele.

1....

RE: Kat GS cover bash, build and maiden flight

More construction - here's the Kat all glued up. Went together very square.

Had to dremel away some rudder and ele for full throws. Covered the servo bays.

Last, up on the gear. The stock...

Hey Dion, it's a good looking color scheme. Have you seen one in person yet?

Once the parts were covered, it was time to begin assembly. The wing fairings require precise alignment with...
