RE: Sail Servo/Battery questions

Remember that you don't get ought for nought and double hauling effectively reduces the force on the sheets by half. An alternative solution would be the servo stretcher:...

RE: Sail Servo/Battery questions

You're going to be limited by space concerns to fit an arm winch. Most use consumer NiMH cells, either 4 or 5. which with today's high capacity, should be sufficient for a morning's or afternoon's...

RE: cr 914 yacth

There's a video with a mixed bag of 3 foot boats on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TubSBhz4AAI including the CR914, Saphirs, and a Sea Cret (Sea Queen) plus a (scratch built?) VO70.

RE: North American RG-65 Sailboats Class

Craig, If I were you, I'd post on the site mentioned by ROADTOAD or on http://www.rcsailing.net/forum1/forumdisplay.php?f=76 You'll probably find more RG65 sailors.

RE: Rubbing Alcohol

If you can't find "Spectra" in your local fishing tackle shop, look for "Dyneema", which is more or less the same.

RE: monsoon or phantom?

RE: h double sided tape, but howHow to build pocket luff or in- tbubing forestay.

Tato a luff pocket is a "coñazo" with plastic film type sails. I've found that taping plastic tubes from cotton buds (bastoncitos) about 1 cm in length at 15 cm intervals much easier.

RE: RG65 question

The balsa is 2 mm (the closest equivalent would be 3/32").

RE: RG65 question

Mike, if you're thinking of a one metre Blue Splash then you'll need a much heavier duty sail control servo; say something in excess of 250 oz/inch of torque or a winch. A standard servo on an RG65...

RE: RG65 question

One of the advantages of the metric system is that scaling is easier 65 cms > 100 cms = 153.85%. Generally, its safer scaling up than down, even though there are some RG-65 built as 65% one metres...

RE: Volvo 70 Ericsson Build Log

You might try to reduce your electronics weight. You pobably need a sail control servo of about 10kg/cm minimum. Servos of that size usually weigh quite a bit. One of the lighter analogue ones is the...

RE: RC Sailing

I guess there aren't many of us and we tend to be a bit older than the Internet generation. Plus the fact that we keep or boats sailing for long enough to sort them out.

RE: General Servo Control Questions (and some more advanced Q's)

The simple question is your case 2. I'll leave the 2nd to those that know, but there are both amplitude and frequency modulated receivers, which may have something to do with it.

RE: hi i have a 1960s boat hull

Go for carbon tube 8-10 mm outside diameter. Somewhat smaller for the booms. Kite shops are a good source as well as havigng ripstop for the sails.
