Carburettor Mods

Firstly - Mark the carb is a WT-1070. So a WT series refresh kit will do the job.

Anyway, back to the reason for posting. I've been wrestling on and off for about 12 months with a GF40. The...

Hi Derek,

Wow, its a long time since this thread. Since then I've pretty much flown nothing but F3A, done loads of trimming and designed and built five 2m F3A models. So, the CoG I determined...

Hi Les,

Looking good man. The Przytocki heritage is clear with the stabs, fin and rudder shape. Shame you had to make the fuz so narrow just so you can get it in your tent with you at Ashford...

RE: Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

Nice one! There is clearly a route there, and I'm sure you could make it nonlinear by some additional fudging e.g., putting a curve mix from throttle to a spare channel then using that as the VR...

RE: Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

So, my conclusion so far is that the Futaba 9Z appears to be the only Tx that supports this feature. (Certainly the only on for which I have evidence of it being supported.)

I have spoken with 2...

RE: Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

To those out there who are good at F3A, undoubtedly talented on the sticks, know how to aerodynamically trim an F3A model before adding computer radio tweaks, have the psychological make-up to fly...

Rate control mix support

Hi Folks,

This is a question I also posted over on the F3A thread.

I am looking for a transmitter that has an equivalent to the rate control mix supported on the old Futaba 9Z.

An...

RE: Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

Thanks Guys.

Seeing as Joe's post has alerted me to the equipment support boards, I'll also go ask there too.

RE: Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

OK, sorry for the confusion.

The feature I require is to adjust the Rudder Rate (or AFR, travel, sensitivity or other loosely equivalent term) as a function of the throttle position. Ideally...

RE: Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

Hey Everette,

I did have a look at the SD10 but again couldn't see an obvious (or even sneaky) way of doing it from the manual. Shame, it looks like a very cost effective system otherwise.

Throttle to Rudder Rate mix

Hi All,

My trusty 9ZAP has died a hideous death, so I'm on the look out for a new radio.

One feature I'm struggling to find is the rate control mix supported by the Futaba Z and MZ series...

Hey Bax,

No problems, I have "one of those days" most days [&o]

Seeing as the regulator is not supposed to be user serviceable, back to the importer it goes I guess.

Thanks for your...

RE: OS81 FSa Pumped Main needle sensitivity

Hi Bax,

Thanks for the reply.

I think you are missing the point that this is a PUMPED FSa-81. So fuel pressure should not be an issue (also, on the test bench and in the airframe in...

OS81 FSa Pumped Main needle sensitivity

Hi Folks,

Just a quick "is there anything obvious to check" question.

Engine is a brand new OS81 FSa (pumped), now with 8x12minute runs on it. First three runs were on a bench following...

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **

Hi Bill,

Just to let you know that the new chip you sent me fixed the problem with not being able to set the servo center points (switch setting 0/1). I clearly had a very old firmware version....

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **

Well...this was the only suggestion you had for why we can't set the servo centres (positions 1 & 2 on the programming switch) but everything else seems OK. It's been a good couple of years since we...

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **

Hiya,

Well we're still messing with the setup in the C130 - problems with the tank positions governed by the shape of the nacelle. But we are nearly there I think.

Rather than us send the...

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **

OK, thanks for the reply.

We're going to run the model this week anyway to check everything else is OK; if it is then we'll send the I.C. back.

Have a good vacation!

RE: Eletronic engine syncronizer **SUPPORT **

Hi All,

We bought a twin sync a few years ago. Due to "other circumstances" (errr, we crashed the model) it never got installed. Now the model is rebuilt and we've dug it out.

Some...

RE: YS160DZ glow CDI conversion

Hi Rich,

As I said in the write-up, this is not a petrol conversion. It is a CDI conversion, but I'm still running glow fuel.

The YS170CDI and the YS170 CDI conversion kit engines also...

RE: Saito FG20 - why is it so powerful?

Very interesting as ever :-)

My take away from this is:

They made a better job of the FG 20 than the 125a. That's why the FG can match the 125a even though it's running on petrol.

RE: YS160DZ glow CDI conversion

Don't see why not. I understand that the disc valve dimensions are essentially the same between 140 and 160, although there are a few variants around depending on when the engine was manufactured.

Saito FG20 - why is it so powerful?

Hi All,

I've converted a couple of 4 stroke glow engines to CDI recently, but still running on glow fuel. The reason for this was a desire to keep the performance.

My understanding was...
