UPDATE:

I've now finished the transmission. Everything runs very nicely. It is geared at about 6:1, and has no diff. Next I am going to start working on the front end.

DV, the drive shafts and cups are the same as those made for the HSP 1/5th scale buggy. I got all the parts off ebay.
Just search for the part numbers 50034,...
