RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Over the years a number of ESC manufacturers have issued some fairly dire warnings about keeping the ESC to battery leads short. I recall Schulze was one of the first to explain the voltage ripple...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Regarding ESC location, I believe the easiest solution is to locate the ESCs in the fuse near the batteries. I did that with my F7F and have no issues. No voltage spike issues so no capacitor...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

I found that when landing with full flap, all expo needed to be removed, and elevator throw increased. Otherwise, there just wasn't sufficient elevator authority or sensitivity to get the flair...

RE: ESM T-28

Fabio,

Not wanting to re-hash an old topic, but from memory the instruction manual doesn't measure the CG at the wing break, but at the centre join of the wing. The diagram in the instructions...

RE: P-26 Peashooter

Lifer,

I don't recall what the instructions called for - I assembled mine back in 2002 and the instructions are long gone. I normally set up max throws per the instructions, but fine tune the...

RE: P-26 Peashooter

Except for nose-over tendencies on landing, I really can't fault the flying qualities of mine. It'll never be a pattern ship, but its a good honest sport flyer. Loops, rolls, spins, snaps & stalling...

RE: P-26 Peashooter

Kostas1,

Sorry, but I don't have a digital camera. Mind you, it looks exactly the same as the one in your picture above, same decals, same everything. I removed the flying wires from mine...

RE: P-26 Peashooter

A pig to fly? What are you smoking? I still have one of the CM Pro peashooters (it's the same model as shown in the Nitromodels photo above, BTW) and it's one of the most placid, benign airframes...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

KMP never did make them - they were just importing/distributing/selling the ESM product.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Main issues were
- Wing spar structure was of questionable integrity, at centre of wing. (fixable)
- Paint blisters in the sun. (not fixable)
- Some batches had some misalignment between...

RE: working on a 12X?

The switches on the top of the 12X are relatively easy to access and replace. Connections to those switches are just via conventional wires. Switches on the front face are a little more involved,...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

I think you'll find that none of the wing openings are landing lights - they're air inlets. Take a look at http://www.pbase.com/wjpearce/image/26116160

I've got the version with full composite...

RE: ESM T-28

Thanks builttocrash,

Maybe everyone should re-read that post, rather than perpetuate the discussion about incidences & thrust angles.

RE: ESM T-28

Man, ease up on the grumpy pills. And the diagram does show 2 CG points, look again. One to the left of the fuse, and one to the right. They're at the place with regard to longitudinal balance,...

RE: ESM T-28

It seems to me that every post about wing & tail incidences comes up with different measurements. So until we get some collaboration, reported incidences should be treated with some suspicion.

RE: ESM T-28

If you're using one servo per control surface, then 88oz should be fine for elevators, flaps & ailerons. Rudder may need a little more beef, depending on flying style.

Probably the bigger...

RE: More operational experience of the 2.4 system.

David,

Is there any word on the Weatronic being approved by MAAA for use in Australia?

And did you ever get it to work with your (Asia-spec) 12X? I have one also, and would like to...

RE: Which Radio?

My point is that the ECU only gets to see the signal pulse form the RX, which will always be there, even if the RF link is lost. The ECU will have no direct knowledge of the RF link condition.

RE: Which Radio?

Mav,

How do you explain the RX ERROR though? I fly a 12X, and my understanding is that on loss of 2G4 signal, the Rx will either hold the servos in the last commanded position, or drive them to...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Ray,

I expect the 91's should be OK. I'm running about twice the power of 91's, and it is a very strong performer. Given that the model is so well mannered, it should still do fine with much...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Well I guess the easy answer is just to put some lead shot in the nose compartment. The bulkhead in front of the nose gear has a couple of holes in it, which you could temporarily plug up so the...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

So long as you're using gas retracts, who cares if they lock or not? Air pressure will keep them up. You may just need a cross-brace so the wheel doesn't deform the top skin of the nacelle too...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Probably all of the color coats ESM apply would be matt finish, as it has a higher pigment density than gloss, and therefore covers better. More production-line friendly. However, its the clear top...
