RE: Electric seaplane

Check out the GWS EStarter or Beaver. Matched floats, strong performers w. LiPo, EFlite 400 brushless outrunner. Fun!

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

OK gents, I am running the eflite ESC in my Cub and yesterday the ESC must have overheated because the Cub lost power to motor and control surfaces and crashed. I was close to the ground on approach...

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

Excellent link, Xrossbow! Almost makes me want to get re-licensed after 15 years away from full scale flying. And wish that the damn lottery would hit so that I can have a Super Cub!

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I agree with Pat... When I was flying last week, the SC kept shutting off ... ACT switch mistakenly on. I think that ACT is more of a gimmick than a practical function. It doesn't work for beginners...

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

OK, say it, it's Osama Bin Laden and his favorite RC plane. That's what you get when you mate a Scotsman with an Italian mama.

Notice the body language in the third shot ... get that left wing...

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

Hi Luc,
I agree, total joy is right. Had a great session on Saturday with the Cub, take-offs are still scary but I'm going to try your T/O technique in the morning if the winds are light. I'm still...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Pconn5, get a SC like now! I see you are from Hartford. Where do you fly? We fly at the Army Corp's Colebrook reservoir in NW CT, right below the MA line .. the airspace spans both CT and MA. The...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hi Pat,
I'm using the EFlite 10x7 and did not have to use any extra weight to balance the CG ... I used elastic bands to hold the battery against the bottom of the fuse to find the sweet spot, then...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Good recommendation, patnChris. I built the GWS E-Starter as my first 4ch / 72MHz ARF. It was a lot of fun to fly and modify .. I have an EFlite 400 brushless in it and along with a 3S 2100mAh Lipo,...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

NashTech, I have the Accu-Cycle Elite and it takes about 45 min to charge the packs. I generally charge below 1C as I don't like to heat the batteries up too much. 1C is equivalent to the capacity of...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I think that we need to move to tail streamers or the combat modules now. We're not ready for formation flying let alone uber-close-quarters aerial combat! No more foam confetti. Plus it freaks me...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Here's a pic of Max's Super Cub coming in for a gentle, dare I say delicate, landing.

I think that Max would rather settle it with his S&W .45 ;-)

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply. I did see your earlier post, but assumed that the work was cosmetic ... missing your "bingo its a working bungee" comment. I will try to implement your upgrade this...

D&E Skipjack 1/96 photos

Hi Folks,

Here are some pics of my D&E Skipjack, painted in the shakedown cruise colors of the USS Scamp. I have Dave's WTC3 in her plus the usual suite of electronics: APC4, SubSafe, etc. She's...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Dear God, Why is it so hard to fly RC airplanes in a "respectable manner" yet so easy to mid-air-collide a pair of them?

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

Gents, I'm really enjoying the EFlite Cub, and now have about 10 flights on her. This is the largest plane that I've ever built/flown so I guess I'm a little hard on the landings, judging by the bent...

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

Hey Charley, Can you further explain the spacers for the floats to increase the AoA? How much of an increase do you think is required? Thx.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

All good stuff, Hal. My SC has the same problems with battery lead length and with the force needed to insert the landing gear bail wire. Can't be good for the fuse. I have the opposite problem with...

RE: E-flite J-3 Cub 25 ARF

Hey Charlie, This is probably belaboring the obvious, but do we bring the toe-in condition by lightly bending the gear into the that configuration?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Seems like a tail skid might be a better solution if the grass in the flying field is not "golf course quality". I have an E-Starter that I like to fly and belly-land but the tailwheel is fixed into...
