Most likely a clutch shoe spring broke. Happens all the time, especially as the shoe starts to wear the spring can actually ride the bell.

One way that works is to mix up a batch of 1/3 cement and 2/3 dirt. Mix well with water so its a goopy enough to form the jump. What ever jump face you are making, should be partially formed...

A differential of this type cannot 'slip' as a standard RC slipper will. Nor will it 'bark' as a ball diff can. Based on your description I am guessing the mesh is off a bit on the ring and pinion....

And yes, a properly set up LST2 will be just as competitive as a Revo at the track. If your track has an MT class anyway....
