FM Radio question

is there a difference in low band and hi band frequncies as far as equipment goes? in other words can i put a channel 18 crystal in the same receiver and transmitter as you i can a channel 50?

i dont really know the power class for this airplane. it is a PAC Extra 230 and has a 72 inch wingspan. what would be a good engine to put on this plane?
