Looking real good I really like the rudder!! I was wondering about the jb weld on the exhuast, have you done that before, will it hold up to the heat and vibration ok? I braised mine using map gas...

Okay, I think it's time to step away from the airplane. I believe the weathering is pretty much complete, heres the finished results next I will clearcoat the entire airframe, and then put it away...

The mud and rust was done using brown and rust (i use burnt sierra) acrilic paints applied with a dry brush and the spattering was done by banging the brush gently against a solid object to fling the...

here's the results of my attempt at simulating the exhuast and gun port stains I'm not sure yet if i am happy with the exhuast, but overall I think the results of the overall weathering effect look...

Great thread, I just started weathering my ziroli dauntless, using alot of the techniques I found on this thread heres some pics,

for the wheel wells I airbrushed charcoal around the edges then...

Frank I think the added weight of the exhuast helpped with the weight up front plus the batteries are close to the firewall

Sorry Chickenhawk I thought you were talking about the wheel wells, Invertmast has it right, I used regular and coarse salt, Just moisten the area apply the salt then let dry thouroly befre adding...

I finally got some color onto this bird. I decided to paint a base color of aluminum on the entire frame so that once the final coat is on I can rub through in heavy wear areas to expose the metal...
