RE: Ziroli P51 FG Fuse Build

I would have been there but Isaac had a birthday party and we go to church Saturday evening. I might just have to take a ride and get that servo. I'm ready to do some flying! Are you going to try...

Kevin,
Glad to hear it and sorry I missed it too! Although I know I'll see it soon.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

Check out Just the Pits or Yellow Aircraft. Nice pilots at a very reasonable price.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I used them on my Electra Glider to hold the wings on ... seriously I think they are for the ignition hold down. The plane is looking good!

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I never even fitted the bolts that came with the kit. I've use the black DuBro 1/4-20 nylon bolts as you can use an allen wrench and not worry about a screwdriver slipping. They are also long...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

If you want a 3 blade spinner you might try contacting Dave Brown products. I think they make a 5.5" spinner and should be able to do it in 3 blade.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

On my DA60 I'm using a header/cann ... no loosening ... I also put blue locktight on the bolts.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

Not quite ... I wnet from a ZDZ 50 to a DLE 55 to the DA 60. Power increased with each engine.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

Just providing some data points. You're going to love the DA 60 and the plane!

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

The stock tank would be plenty for a DA60. Plus, the DA60 is such a beast of an engine I doubt that you will be flying the bird at full throttle all that much ... very powerful!!

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I am powering the rx and servos with a 2300MaH A123 battery with great success, not only on this plane but others as well.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I slowed both up and down sequence. Not so slow as to be scale, but enough to keep them from slamming either direction ... about 1.5 to 2 seconds either way.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I had to sand a small groove for the up locking mechanism to move freely. Also did some very minor shimming on one side if the gear mounts on one of the gear to make sure it centered in the wheel...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I'm using the CG as per plans and the high rate on the surfaces with about 25% expo. I'm comfortable with this set-up for smooth but positive control response and still stable enough to fly a long...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

It is a very good flying airplane. On my maidnen I was doing some IMAC to the teasing of the other pilots at the field. It really hold a line well!

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I considered red locktite, but last time I used it I thought the bolt was going to snap off before it loosened. I would rather not have to deal with removing a stock hardened bolt from a cast...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I'm thinking of ordering some Nordlocks from Tower. They list them for the OS GT55, but the size will fit a 5mm bolt. Lots of guys posting in other forums that they are the cure for loosening...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

No trouble with the ground handling on high rates, especially with the tail steering being less than the rudder due to the mechanics of the set up. Take off roll was uneventful as I just throttled...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

Put in a couple flights today. Determined that aileron and rudder high rates gave positive response without being too much. It's a great flying plane and I look forward to more time on her. BTW...

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

+1 to the above. Flying this plane on a 40cc engine would not be fun.

RE: NEW Top Flight P-40??? 1/5 scale

I'm using a DLE55 and a JTEC pitts muffler. My rx battery (A123 2300mah) mounted right under the pilot seat and using a 900 AAA nicad for ignition. The maiden was Sunday and it's a great flying...
