Extreme Flight YAK54-EXP battery

After about a 10 year hiatus, after 20 years of flying r/c planes back then, I'm getting back into it. Gonna buy the plane in this thread title.

Looking for info from people who have one,...

RE: Securing a canopy

I used these:

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/hatchlatch.htm Item #HLRE001.

I had one of the "handles" vibrate out in flight, shooting the parts back into the rear of my fuselage. I replaced...

RE: 28% capacity setups

I'm using two 5-cell 1350 NiMH packs. After three 10-15 minute flights, I still have around 1000 ma left. A 4-cell 1650 is on the ignition, and I have about the same capacity left in it as well.

RE: DA 50 Choke connector

I ground off the little plate, and put a nose gear steering arm on the shaft. My pushrod connects to the steering arm, and I can use a micro servo to operate the choke.

Update on the hatch latches

Well, nix the hatch latch idea. After flight #3 today, I found one latch broken. They're pretty light duty, and I guess won't hold up the vibration of a gasser. Fortunately, the other one held it...

Maiden Flight

I put 3 flights on it today. On the first, it was airborne before I got to full throttle, in about 30'. 2 clicks aileron trim, and it was hands-off. At rudder required for level knife edge, there...

RE: Show off your custom Wild Hare!

Here you go:

Got the latches at Hobby Lobby:

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/hatchlatch.htm

Item # HLRE001

I guess I'll find out how well they hold up. They were just a little...

RE: Show off your custom Wild Hare!

It's already in there. You use the same thing for the normal wing retainer screw. This way, you don't have to fish a screwdriver down and across inside the fuse, or fumble with a wing bolt. 4...

RE: Carbon Fiber gear

If you are indeed looking for CF gear, I have one for sale in the market here:

Tom will answer regarding 'glass gear. He usually...

RE: Show off your custom Wild Hare!

Thanks. Yeah, I drew it in AutoCAD, then copy/pasted into MS Paint. Then, I reversed the colors to get rid of the black screen background, and saved it as as a .jpg file.

RE: Show off your custom Wild Hare!

Here's my borrowed idea, wing retention system. Instead of screwing wing bolts from inside the fuse, into the wing, I have 4 mm socket head screws Loctited into the wing root blind nuts. They pass...

RE: Help: Weight and balance problems w/ 300 LX

Thanks Andy - that's what I was looking for - a number for reference. If it feels nose heavy at 3", then the range must be conservative, and mine should be okay at 3-3/8". I plan on doing the...

RE: Felt lined clunks ?

I had the fibers from one clog the carb screen on my BME. It looked like wet sand in the screen. Many people use them w/o problems, but I won't. I really don't see the need for one, anyway. A...

RE: Elev anti rot. pins not lining up

Mine had to be forced in. I filed out the holes slightly until they would easily fit, then found the incidence was off. I filed some more, until I got the incidence right. Then, I filled the holes...

Update

Well, I've done a ton of rework, spent about $120 on new stuff, shifted everything forward as far as I can, and my CG has moved forward about 7/8" (from 4-1/4" back). The plane now weighs 17 lb, 12...

Mixing elevator halves w/ JR Tx

I'm using a 9X, but am guessing my issue would apply to the 10X as well. I have a standard mix with EL as master and Aux2 or Aux3 as slave (forgot which one, and don't have it with me here at work)....

RE: extra 300lx pics

Oh well, I give up after 10 tries. I guess the RCU software is incapable of uploading a 231 KB photo when it's not in the mood.

RE: extra 300lx pics

Put everything as far forward as you possibly can. Don't do anything to lighten it forward of the wing tube, and do everything you possibly can to lighten it behind the wing tube. There's another...
