Time is getting short. Two weeks ago we had a great time at the 495th and now we're just three short weeks away from the EHMHFF and I have some great news. Thanks to help from Jeremy at RC Hover this...

Need Auto Rotation advice

The danger zone for autos is about 50 feet on down. You don't have enough altitude to spin up the blades if they have slowed at all.

Btw, negative 4 is fine for autoing. I prefer minus 9 to be...

4.8 volts or 6v

There seems to be a misunderstanding as to the advantages of using a six volt system. In an airplane running a 6 volt battery straight will give your servos more torque and speed, but that's not the...

Engine quits 3 feet off the deck inverted, what would YOU do?

Hey Raja,

Nice list of aerobatics. Unfortunately you left out the fact that even though a gasser will perform those manuevers it will NEVER perform them as well, as quickly, as cleanly, or as...

Engine quits 3 feet off the deck inverted, what would YOU do?

Ergo60,

Glad to hear I was mistaken. It sounds like a gasser would be perfect for your flying style. I hope you enjoy yours very much.

Engine quits 3 feet off the deck inverted, what would YOU do?

Actually Scotty I was referring to his second to last post where he gives the impression that by adding the Hanson engine you'll have a fully 3D capable heli. Unfortunately that's not quite true.

Engine quits 3 feet off the deck inverted, what would YOU do?

Oh man are you stepping in it now Raja.

You can't really think a 12 lb. gasser can, with currently available engines, have the power to weight ratio of a 10.5 lb. glow ship sporting a...

Engine quits 3 feet off the deck inverted, what would YOU do?

Wow Raja, sorry to hear about your crash.

Now what was it you were lecturing me about on taking risks with my aerobatic autos? Looks like you just got bit too there buddy. :p

But I'll bet...

X-cell St #1001

I did a lot of upgrages on my ST before I buried it and bought a used SE and as Diehard said, it's not very cost effective to upgrade an ST too far. Although if you want to turn it into an SE you can...

Heli Funfly events

Drag racing is fun if you can more or less match up pilots of equal skill.

For autos two popular contests are spot autoing. This just as the name implies, auto rotating onto a small spot. Usually...

YS80 Gear Ratio

According to YS you should run the 80 with an 8.45:1 ratio. The danger in running the 9.3:1 is that at 1750 rpm on the head the engine will be turning 16275. That's way too close to the 17k red line....

Re: O.S. says......

A 12x6 is a more comparable prop to a 10x8. This 12.25x3.75 is much too shallow for a 50 size engine.

I do agree with you on the useable rpm of this engine though. If it only saw 12k nothing...
