Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

Bill, the .40 Quickie I have came straight from K&B when they were selling engines through their "Modeler Direct" business. There's no model stamped on the box, just "6.5 Quickie" hand written, and...

Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

Bill, you've got me beat by about five engines total! The NIB K&Bs I've got are the aforementioned Torpedo .40, a Bill Wizniewski designed type 8301 rear rotary .15, the aforementioned type 9140...

Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

Magnum? I've got no problem there, Bill, but he said he already owns a TT!

So, I take it you kinda like K&Bs! Yeah, me too.
Your muffler solution of changing crankcases makes great sense. I...

Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

Bill, I don't own either of the 8300 series, but I do have one of the non-r/c FAI free flight K&Bs that probably has similar performance to the 8360, and I have a couple of the 9100 ducted fan...

Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

An alternative, if you just have to have a K&B, is to buy a K&B .48, which Mecoa/RJL/K&B claims to have available once again.
I have one of the ones produced before the K&B disaster, and it's very...

How to get inverted 4 stroke to run.

I'd like to ask a related question here. I recently built a plane with an inverted Saito .30, which has an air bleed idle circuit. It runs perfectly right side up, but is realy fussy when inverted....

Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

The 4011 uses a Dykes ring. It's a very efficient ring design that sits right at the top of the piston, and is "L" shaped in cross-section. It has nearly no drag on the compression stroke, then,...

Mousse can muffler or New Engine?

The K&B 4011 is a very good old engine, but it is old technology, i.e. loop-scavenged instead of Schneurle-scavanged. The modern multi-directional porting/scavenging system adds at least 1/3 more...

Thunder Tiger engines

Also called the 4-cycle/ 2-cycle break. When extremely rich, 2-cycle engines will skip firing every other time, hence the term, "4-cycling." they run waaay cold when doing this, so the upper...

engine collection

Shame? Nonsense! Some of us just like having lots of engines, while saner ones like USING 'em! ;)

OS Max .46fx

that depends on how far down the engine sits. One most trainers, the engine sits up pretty high, and a notch makes good sense. If it sits low enough to make a hole, by all means make one! :-)

OS Max .46fx

Use some CA glue or some butyrate dope for fuel proofing the hole. The needle should protrude just a little bit out of the side of the plane's nose, so the extension will make it much easier to...

46FX needle valve

Remove the needle, mount the engine, then mark the point on the inside of the nose where the needle will protrude. Remove the engine, cut an appropriate opening, fuel proof it, and install the...

engine collection

I fall into the middle of the pack with 107, ranging from antique spark ignition to new Jett, NovaRossi, and Nelson. I don't own anything larger than 15cc (.91).

Do you guys who listed ducted...

cherokee plans?

One of the British Traplet publications (I think it was R/C Scale International) had plans included in it a year or two ago. You can order the plans from Traplet.

More performance from a OS FP .40 ??

Intake, bypass, and exhaust timing are all very mild on this engine, and the carb is tiny. If you want more power, you'll need to modify these parameters, but you'll lose some low end torque and...

I'm amazed that you guys fly at flying sites that don't have first aid kits as a part of the club's facilities! I'll second TexAirMed's advice about ice. Been there, done that, and it works...
