So, What are your thoughts on this happening over the course of 5+ years with no checks and balances ? Should there be any legal consequences and to whom? Budgets may be tight but the law does not...

Conduct of any individual member which is seriously detrimental to the best interest of the club, should be grounds for termination. The fact that no officers or board members kept finances in check...

Hypothetically, if the Officers and Board NEVER performed an audit and the treasurer embezzled this money over a period of years, would it be considered negligence on the Officers part?
